TK Lab —

A focused mini workshop with Roxu & Ena Dahl

On the Friday before our weekend workshop we would like to invite the community to a focused TK lab.

The Takate Kote (high hands in the back harness) is both feared and revered. Yet, in our experience, when understanding the structure and its functions, how to adapt and tie it well, it is one of the most versatile structures. This is why the TK is our safe space, and what we will start with 95% of the times when we’re tying for suspension and semi-suspension.

How and what you will learn

Semenawa style shibari places high demands on the structural integrity of the Takatekote as it is meant to withstand high stress, torsions and transitions.

In this 3 hour intensive we will teach our version of a two rope, stemless TK intended for this style, with focus on its mechanics and tension, as well as body and shoulder positioning. We’ll start by understanding the overall structure before going into the minute details that make all the difference. We will also help you trouble shoot and adapt this TK to your partner’s body and preferences.

Practical

Requirements

Riggers should be familiar with the single and double column ties and figure 8/x-friction.

We recommend this class as a prerequisite for Sunday’s Tantalizing Torment workshop as we will be using this TK in several of the exercises.

Rope bottoms should be familiar with being tied and possess good body awareness and have the ability to communicate clearly with their riggers.

Equipment

At least 2 jute or hemp ropes, 7-8 meters in length. A few short ropes in case extensions are needed is always a good idea 🙂
