Suspensions & Transitions

In this workshop, we will learn how to build suspensions and transitions using basic ties.

We will create beautiful shapes and change the position while in suspension. Throughout the workshop, you will receive guidance on techniques and safety.

We will tie as solid as possible so the bottoms can trust and lean against the ropes.

Requirements

You are welcome to join this intermediate/advanced-level workshop if you have experience practising suspensions and know how to handle uplines safely.

Riggers should be able to make basic knots, basic fundamentals and solid gote (in any style).

Bottoms should enjoy suspensions and be able to distinguish between restricted circulation and nerve compression.

Bio

Saara Kantanen is an artist, performer, shibari and kinbaku practioner and teacher from Finland. She lives in the countryside with her family and animals like the wild viking woman. She is co-owner of the kinbaku studio Kakumei Kan in the heart of Helsinki.

Shibari has become a way of life and a passion for her. She’s been working several years shibari as her main job. She organizes workshops for couples, private sessions and performances. Saara will participate in several events this year both in Finland and abroad. Her style is inspired by Naka Sensei and other Naka inspired teachers. She has been mostly taking classes with Riccardo Wildties.

Saara thinks it’s more important to share the energy and exchange the feelings than learn the most complicated patterns. She creates the open and safe space where the model is the empty canvas to paint. All the feelings and emotions are allowed. Safety comes when there is connection, and connection comes when there is the trust. Saara gives herself to the models, for them to feel more.

As a switch Saara is always tying her models how she would like to be tied as well. She is very into semenawa and dynamic play and always combine rituals or some BDSM elements to her sessions. In the workshops she is teaching fundamentals, safe suspension technique and how to make the session more intense. Models will also receive tips on expressing their desires, setting boundaries, and ways to surrender.
